Sterling K. Brown Is Mandy Moore’s #1 Hype Man and Says She Deserves an Emmy
The actor says his “exquisite” co-star is “killing the game” as Rebecca in Season 6 of This Is Us.
One of the most heartbreaking storylines on This Is Us this season is the progression of Rebecca's (Mandy Moore) Alzheimer's. While seeing the beloved Pearson matriarch succumb to the disease is painful for many fans, they're also wowed by Moore's powerful performance.
Sterling K. Brown (Randall) is wowed, too. After watching Season 6, Episode 13, titled "The Day of the Wedding," he posted a video to his Instagram account and gave a special shout-out to Moore. (Watch, below.)
"I want anybody who votes in the [Television] Academy, anybody who's got a say in what happens," he said. "The tastemakers, etc, etc. Mandy Moore is killing the game, son. She is killing the game, and she deserves to be recognized... And the beautifully subtle, nuanced work and the portrayal of someone going through what her character's going through, it's just exquisite."
Brown revealed the cast has less than a week on the This Is Us set. They're currently filming the penultimate episode. (You know, the one that show creator Dan Fogelman said made Moore throw up after reading the script? Let's just say we have mixed feelings about finding out what, exactly, inspired that reaction.)
Brown also had plenty of praise for many of his fellow co-stars, including Susan Kelechi Watson, Jon Huertas, and Justin Hartley.
"When the show, like the ensemble, gets a chance to function as a collective, it's just like the best music. Everybody plays their tune," he said.
In response, Moore wrote in the comments, "I love you so much, SKB. You’re too kind. Thank you for your exquisite work, which only raises the game of everyone who works with you. But I concur- our collective group is unstoppable!!"
We couldn't agree more. This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
