Stella Kidd Has Had an Impressive Career Journey on Chicago Fire
Kidd has worn many hats throughout the years.
Chicago Fire wouldn't be the same without Stella Kidd (played by Miranda Rae Mayo). Stella first graced One Chicago television screens during Season 4; she's now a series regular—and love interest of Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney.) Stella is never afraid to fight for what she wants, whether that be jumping through the ranks of the Chicago Fire Department or assisting at-risk youth to help change the direction of their lives.
Check Out Stella Kidd's Chicago Fire Career Journey
Stella Kidd has worn many hats (better yet, helmets) throughout her six seasons of Chicago Fire. Below, we recap her journey.
Stella Becomes a Firefighter for Firehouse 51
Stella Kidd's first appearance on Chicago Fire is halfway through Season 4, when she entered Firehouse 51 as a firefighter for Truck 81. At the time, Stella was single and still sorting through a recent divorce—and she had a mysterious former connection to Severide. Fans later learn that Severide pursued Stella while she was still married. Of course, their flirty interactions would quickly turn into something more.
Stella Helps Out at Molly's Bar
Chicago Fire's neighborhood spot is Molly's, the bar run by seasoned firefighter Christopher Herrmann (David Eigenberg). Stella reveals that she previously managed "the best pub in Milwaukee for two-and-a-half years" and takes her previous work experience to help out Herrmann at Molly's.
Stella Begins Teaching at the Firehouse
Throughout Stella Kidd's time on Chicago Fire, her colleagues quickly realize how hard-working she is. This is especially true of Chief Boden (played by fan-favorite Eamonn Walker). During the eighth season of Chicago Fire, Chief Boden asks Stella to start teaching at the Firehouse Academy.
Stella Launches the Girls on Fire Program
Stella is known for her warm personality and huge heart, which are fully on display in Season 8 when she launches the Girls on Fire program for at-risk teenage girls. In an interview with Monsters & Critics, Mayo revealed that Stella witnessed young women of color get embroiled in difficult, dangerous situations, and she wanted to give them support. “She saw that something could be better and was [like], ‘OK I can do that.’ It wasn’t anything as grandiose as, ‘I want to make sure that there are more women in the CFD," Mayo explained.
Stella Gets Promoted to Truck Company 81 Officer
Chief Boden encouraged Stella to take the test to become a Lieutenant, which she naturally passes with flying colors. While she has filled in as Truck 81 Officer for Season 10, all eyes are on Boden to see if he will leave Firehouse 51 altogether (and if his job will go to Stella). For now, it looks like fans will have to wait and see how Stella Kidd's Chicago Fire future unfolds
