Watch Eminem Crash Pete Davidson's Last Night on SNL
The Season 47 finale marked the comedian's final appearance as a cast member after eight years.
After eight seasons, Pete Davidson said goodbye to Saturday Night Live during the show's Season 47 finale. And he had a little help from Eminem—yes, the Eminem.
Over the years Davidson has become known for his parodies of the rapper's biggest hits. So it was fitting that for his last episode as a cast member, the 28-year-old would do one last musical sketch. This time (in a clip that was cut from the show for time), Davidson spoofed Eminem's famous verse from Dr. Dre's 1999 "Forgot About Dre." Only the comedian's was titled "Forgot About Lorne" as a dedication to SNL creator Lorne Michaels.
In the middle of Davidson rapping about Michaels' various accomplishments (“So what do you say about a comedy great/ Been doing it himself for half a century straight"), the camera unexpectedly cuts to an annoyed Eminem.
“I would just stop,” he says about Davidson's raps. “Yeah, they all suck. Just please, stop. It’s really bad.”
A Davidson moment that did make it to broadcast was his last Weekend Update appearance. During a final sit down with co-anchor Colin Jost, Davidson said his goodbyes to the show—for now. He first joined SNL in 2014 and made history as the youngest-ever cast member.
"I never imagined this would be my life. Look at me when I started here. Back then I was just, like, a skinny kid and no one knew what race I was," he joked. "And, like, now everyone knows I'm white because I became hugely successful while barely showing up to work... I appreciate SNL always having my back and allowing me to work on myself and grow. Thank you to Lorne for never giving up on me or judging me, even when everyone else was. For believing in me and allowing me to have a place that I could call home with memories that could last a lifetime."
The May 21st episode, hosted by Natasha Lyonne, also marked the last season for longtime beloved cast members Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant (who both joined the show in 2012), and Kyle Mooney, who made his first appearance in 2013. McKinnon got a subtle sendoff with the episode's cold open, which was a recreation of one of her most popular sketches "Close Encounter." Bryant's goodbye came during Weekend Update, when she and Bowen Yang teamed up for a final "Trend Forecasters" sketch.
