Oppenheimer Star Emily Blunt Takes Acting Break to Spend More Time with Husband John Krasinski and Kids
"I just need to be there for all of [my family] for a good stretch," Blunt recently explained. "And I just felt that in my bones.”
Everyone needs a little break from work for some family time every now and then and Oppenheimer star Emily Blunt is no different. The British actress says she's taking much of 2023 off to spend some quality time with her husband — John Krasinski, The Office alum and her A Quiet Place co-star — and their two daughters.
"This year, I’m not working," Blunt said on the July 10 episode of the iHeart podcast Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi. "I worked quite a bit last year and my oldest baby is nine, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel [like] there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little. And it’s, ‘Will you wake me up? Will you take me to school? Will you pick me up? Will you put me to bed?’ And I just need to be there for all of them for a good stretch. And I just felt that in my bones.”

Blunt and Krasinski have two children together, daughters Hazel and Violet. And the family has some equally high-profile friends and neighbors in Brooklyn. Blunt's Oppenheimer co-star Matt Damon happens to live in the same building in the New York City borough and the actor and his wife Luciana Barroso frequently get together with Blunt's crew.
“Matt [Damon] is just the most easygoing, beautiful person," Blunt said on the podcast. "Lucy is even more beautiful — sorry, Matt. But we all became friends and then they moved to Brooklyn and they said, ‘We found this amazing building.’ And of course, we were like, ‘We’ll live in the same building!’ But there’s really lovely, cool people living in Brooklyn and we have Sunday night dinners... the kids love each other.”

In Oppenheimer, the Universal Pictures biographical thriller that hits theaters July 21, Blunt plays Katherine "Kitty" Oppenheimer, wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), the physicist who worked on the first nuclear weapons.
Damon portrays Leslie Groves, the United States Army Corps of Engineers officer who headed up the Manhattan Project, which created the atomic bomb during World War II.
