A Comprehensive Rundown of the Entire La Brea Cast
We explain how all of the sci-fi drama's many characters are connected.
Between the exciting fan theories and thrilling Season 2 finale, there's a lot that goes down on La Brea. (That's only natural when a time-traveling sinkhole to 10,000 B.C. is involved.) And at the heart of all the gripping adventure is an ensemble cast that never fails to keep us on our toes.
As we await Season 3's premiere on Tuesday, January 9 at 9/8c, we've taken a look back at every major character from the sci-fi drama and how they make La Brea...La Brea.
Josh, Eve, Gavin, and Izzy
Played by: Jack Martin, Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, and Zyra
About them: Formerly married couple Eve and Gavin—a former Air Force pilot—were separated at the time of the sinkhole because of Gavin's visions and alcoholism following a helicopter crash. They share kids Josh and Izzy. Eve and Josh fell through the sinkhole and traveled back in time to 10,000 B.C., while Gavin and Izzy were left behind in modern-day L.A. During the first season we also learn that Isiah (the young grandson of Tongva tribesman Silas) is actually a young Gavin stuck in a time loop. At the end of Season 2, Eve is sucked into a time portal with her whereabouts unknown as we head into the show's final season.
Riley and Sam
Played by: Veronica St. Clair and Jon Seda
About them: Sam is a former marine and surgeon who fell through the sinkhole with his daughter, Riley, who's a college student. Sam has taken on a leadership role at the crash site alongside Eve and Ty. Riley is friends with Scott and develops a romantic relationship with Josh.
Lucas and Marybeth
Played by: Josh McKenzie and Karina Logue
About them: Lucas and Marybeth are an estranged mother and son from Louisiana. At the time of the sinkhole Marybeth, who's a cop, was tracking Lucas into L.A., and they both end up in 10,000 B.C. It's revealed that Marybeth killed Lucas' father because he was a dirty cop who was going to blame his crimes on Lucas in order to avoid jail time. By the end of the season, the two's relationship becomes better, but Marybeth ends up dying from a wound.
Lucas finds solace and understanding with Veronica and they become an item. At the end of Season 2, they discover that she's pregnant with their child.
Lilly and Veronica
Played by: Chloe De Los Santos and Lily Santiago
About them: At the beginning of Season 1, it's believed that the two are biological sisters, and Lilly can't speak. However, it's soon revealed that those were lies to cover up the truth: Both were kidnapped by the man they were with at the time of the sinkhole. He died during the first episode. While Lilly wants to get to know the other survivors, Veronica is hostile and has a rocky time in 10,000 B.C.—especially when everyones learns the truth about her and Lilly.
Later on in the season, it's revealed that Lilly is actually a young Ella, a woman Gavin finds in present day L.A. who was also stuck in a time loop as a kid.
In Season 2, Veronica comes to trust Lucas and she gets pregnant.
Levi
Played by: Nicholas Gonzalez
About him: The Air Force pilot is Gavin's former colleague and estranged best friend. Their relationship suffered when Gavin began having his visions and started drinking after his helicopter crash. Levi moved to Germany, a decision he made to distance himself from Eve, with whom he was having an affair with while she was separated from Gavin. Levi attempts to fly into the sinkhole and complete a rescue mission, but he also ends up stuck in 10,000 B.C. There's a bigger mystery surrounding Levi that will be revealed in Season 3.
Ty
Played by: Chiké Oknonkwo
About him: Ty is a divorced therapist who is close with Eve and Sam. He has a terminal brain tumor, which nearly drove him to suicide in the premiere. However, he has a new outlook on life and falls for Tongva tribe leader Paara. By the end of Season 2, Ty has really grown as a person and source of wisdom for his fellow survivors.
Scott
Played by: Rohan Mirchandaney
About him: Scott is an anxious pothead who happens to know a lot about 10,000 B.C. due to his interest in history and anthropology. (His knowledge comes in handy throughout the show.) He's particularly close with Riley and Josh.
