Kelly Clarkson's Electric Cover of 'Just Fine' by Mary J. Blige Will Have You Dancing
We're officially obsessed!
Kelly Clarkson has a voice that just won’t quit, and we don't want it to! On The Kelly Clarkson Show, she’s shown off her versatile range with covers of pop and country songs. And this time? She’s shaking things up with a classic R&B tribute.
On September 14, the songstress blew us away with a rendition of “Just Fine” by the one and only Mary J. Blige. During her Kellyoke performance, Clarkson came in with full force while accompanied by a live band and some amazing backup singers. There, she sang her heart out about feeling empowered and appreciating where you are in life. “Gonna live my life, feels so good to get it right,” she crooned. The enthusiastic crowd grooved out while on their feet, moving to the rhythm. “Don’t stress through the night, at a time in my life, ain’t worried about if you feel it,” she continued, hitting the notes with ease.
Clearly a Mary J. Blige fan, this isn’t the first time Clarkson has covered one of her songs on her show. In May, she performed one of Blige’s earliest and most successful hits, “Real Love.” She ended up doing the song justice, making it her own with her powerful notes while honoring the essence of the original.
Better yet, the songs just keep coming. The much-anticipated Season 4 of the talk show aired on September 12th, with Clarkson appearing onstage to an NYC audience while singing Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York."
