Hear the “Pure, Honest” Moment All 4 Coaches Turned for Huntley at the Same Time
Sometimes on The Voice, the Coaches just know.
Mythical Four-Chair Turns come in all different ways for contestants on The Voice. Sometimes a singer is waiting forever to see if those final Coach seats will spin around. Other times, it's almost automatic. For Virginia-based singer Huntley, it was the latter, and what happened next was validation for years of struggling.
In his introduction, Huntley introduced viewers to his two children, Michael and Stella, and explained how their lives changed his own. Though he spent time in Nashville trying to make his musical dreams come true, he stepped back to part-time performing in order to provide stability for his family, doing a few shows a week while working as a booking agent for other artists. With The Voice, he hoped to finally earn his time in the spotlight, with his family watching and his daughter Stella waiting in the wings.

"I've just gotten a lot of no's, and it would be really good for once in my life to get a yes."
Fortunately for Huntley, he got more than just a yes.

Huntley stepped onstage, fearing that he wouldn't get a single chair turning for him with his daughter watching, but still he launched into a soulful cover of The Black Crowes classic "She Talks to Angels." All it took was one high note, and within seconds, all four Coaches were turned to watch him finish the performance. When it was over, no one could say enough nice things about the 33-year-old vocalist.
"When I first listened to you, I heard Chris Stapleton in there," Reba McEntire said. "I'm a huge fan of Chris, and that's a huge compliment to you."
Niall Horan added, "You sing your own way. You sing very direct, and so much power, and the control that you have, it's so beautiful to listen to. You made us feel, and that's a really important thing."
Gwen Stefani echoed some of Horan's comments with her own assessment of Huntley's control and maturity as a singer.
"Your voice is just so automatic...and it's pure and honest," she said. "You sound like you've been singing forever onstage. You're just very comfortable.
And finally, Coach John Legend offered kind words that made it clear that every single Coach thought Huntley was ready for the big time.
"Your voice has so much polish," Legend said. "It sounds like you've been on big stages before, so to look at you, and you being so humble and shocked by all of us turning for you is kind of amazing to me. Your voice sound so ready. It's so ready for the world, ready for the radio, and truly one of the best voices we've heard."

When it came to have his pick of any of the four Voice Coaches, Huntley made a slightly unorthodox request: That Stella be allowed to join him.
"I had a dream that my daughter came onstage," he said.
When she took the stage, it was Stella's turn to take some control in the competition, as Huntley decided to let her pick which of the Coaches would carry him through the rest of the show. In the end, she picked the Coach that Huntley named as her "crush" backstage, Niall Horan.
"Thank you, Stella, for making the perfect choice," Niall said.
