The Purge: Dangerous Waters - Live Show

Halloween Horror Nights The Purge Water

A big success when it debuted in 2023, The Purge: Dangerous Waters returns to Hollywood for HHN 2024. A stunt spectacular utilizing the existing Waterworld Stunt Spectacular arena, during Halloween season everything is re-dressed as a The Purgedystopia. A full stage show with a story and crazy stunts, Dangerous Waters gives guests a chance to immerse themselves into The Purge lore and get some seated thrills.

Skull Lordz - Scare Zone

Huzzah to all you Renaissance geeks, as you'll get to doth protest being "murdered" in the new Hollywood Scare Zone: Skull Lordz. Per the official release: "All hail the royal court of the undead, where gothic kings and queens reign. Beware! Cross into their spectral kingdom at your own peril." Any mix of the supernatural with period piece scares and we're in!

Chainsaw Punkz - Scare Zone

Halloween Horror Nights presents: Chainsaw Punkz

All the allure of punk rock with all the horrors of everyone's least-favorite power tool. Who wouldn't be freaked out by a gang of ghouls with a penchant for anarchy ready to cut down the establishment with a chainsaw that can get the job done? Per the official release, "Get revved up for your night of terror as soon as you enter. Chainsaw-wielding punk rockers with masks and mohawks will close in on you."

Luchadores: Monstruosos - Haunted House

Halloween Horror Nights presents Luchadores Monstruosos

For those who love their old school Lucha Libre wrestling and monsters, look out for the scare zone, Luchadores: Monstruosos. There will be a whole wrestling card's worth of masked creatures ready to bring you under submission. Per the official release description: "¡Ojo! You’re about to get caught in the middle of a Lucha Libre horror film. Two luchadores are going to the mat against a horde of masked monsters."

Murder of Crows - Scare Zone

Halloween Horror Nights presents Murder of Crowz

One of the most visually impressive scares of the 2023 season were the stilt walker crows that meandered around the houses. This year, they get their own scare zone to welcome visitors into their murder. Per the official release, the concept is: "You’ve foolishly ventured into a massive crow’s nest. Now the fearsome flock will descend upon you and peck your bones clean." Look for a new Mama Crow creature teased at the 2024 Midsummer Scream Horror Convention.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface - Haunted House

Halloween Horror Nights presents Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, one of the original slasher flicks that changed the horror genre, turns the big 5-0 this year so HHN Hollywood is going all out this season to celebrate the still terrifying film. The official release teases The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Legacy of Leatherface haunted house: "Fall victim to Leatherface and his cannibalistic kin as they lure you into their gore-filled slaughterhouse in a gruesome original story."

At the just completed 2024 Midsummer Scream Horror Convention in Long Beach, California, John Murdy expanded on that teaser and said that this house will have a "multiverse" approach with it existing in an alternate timeline parallel to the original film. He confirmed that all nine films will be featured in some way in this house throughout nine separate scenes, including the Sawyer house which will feature the first kill from the original film.

Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines - Haunted House

Halloween Horror Night features Monsters Eternal Bloodlines

The sisterhood of scares get their flowers this Halloween in a brand new, all-original, female-centric haunted house, Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines, at both Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando and Hollywood.

The house will set the stage for the ultimate battle between two unexpected alliances of classic female Universal Monsters. Per the official HHN release, "Fans will encounter Saskia Van Helsing, a new fearless huntress and daughter of revered Abraham Van Helsing – who killed Count Dracula by driving a stake through his heart and destroying his reign of terror. Saskia now faces Dracula’s daughter, Countess Marya, who arose from the dead to seek revenge for her father and destroy the Van Helsing bloodline. With a mission to kill, Dracula’s daughter, from 1936’s Dracula’s Daughter, forms a deadly alliance with the She-Wolf, inspired by the 1946 film She-Wolf of London, and Anck-Su-Namun, from the 1932 film The Mummy – only to be intercepted by Saskia and an unlikely ally, The Bride of Frankenstein. The terrifying adventure will take guests on a journey between the hunted and the hunters in a life and death battle with only one bloodline left to survive."

Plus, composer Sara Barone (BBC’s Planet Earth III) will create an original score for this haunted house to elevate the experience for guests.

Insidious: The Further - Haunted House

Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights: Insidious

The third dual theme park haunted house of the 2024 season is an original one inspired by the Insidious film franchise: "Insidious: The Further."

Created in collaboration with Blumhouse Productions in association with Sony Pictures, the story will follow the Lambert family who are "haunted by evil supernatural forces" when their son slips into an unexplained comatose state after becoming possessed by a demonic entity.

Per the official Halloween Horror Nights release, visitors can expect to "follow in the footsteps of the Lamberts, encountering familiar settings and scares as they are transported directly into “The Further” – the ethereal place where ghosts and demons lurk. And just like in the films, guests will quickly learn that the paranormal creatures are here to stay… "

To be featured inside both houses will be familiar franchise scares like The Red-Faced Demon, KeyFace, the Bride in Black; and the vengeful spirit of the Man Who Can’t Breathe.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - Haunted House

Halloween Horror Nights: Ghostbusters Frozen Empire

The second major dual theme park haunted house of the season is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Based on the Sony Picture's sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Frozen Empire will only be the second Ghostbusters themed haunted house from the franchise ever for HHN. It will also celebrate the 40th anniversary of the franchise. This haunted house will place brave visitors inside the New York Firehouse, Ray’s Occult Books shop, the Ghostbuster’s new high-tech lab and containment facility and the dank New York City sewer system.

Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America - Haunted House

Monstruos 2: The Nightmares Of Latin America announcement

Following in footsteps of last year's Monstruous: The Monsters of Latin America haunted house, comes the sequel house: Monstruos 2: The Nightmares of Latin America. The official description teases: "You can try to flee the clutches of the rider El Charro, the devil dog El Cadejo and the boogeyman El Cucuy, but you can’t escape La Muerte."

Halloween Horror Nights creative director John Murdy added a little extra about it on his X account. It will be located in the Parisian Courtyard on the Upper Lot. And these monsters are making a repeat appearance.

"If you were paying attention, and I know you were, you might have noticed that all these characters were featured in a scare zone a few years back," Murdy wrote. "Also by design. We used that as a testing ground for an eventual house (or 2). They all get redesigned for this house!"

Dead Exposure: Death Valley - Haunted House

Halloween Horror Nights presents: Dead Exposure Death Valley.

The first non-IP haunted house announcement of 2024 was revealed to be Dead Exposure: Death Valley. If that sounds familiar, that's because it's inspired by Universal Orlando’s Dead Exposure series. John Murdy, the creative director for Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood, said on X that this house will be located near The Mummy dark ride queue in the Lower Lot and it will be "intense and scary."

Dead Exposure's official teaser description is: "A secret lab’s attempts to create super soldiers takes a turn for the worse, creating radioactive zombies who escape just as you arrive!"

A Quiet Place - Haunted House

Key art for Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights: A Quiet Place

Announced on June 6th as the first shared IP haunted house for USO and USH of the 2024 season is the A Quiet Place haunted house. The houses will include familiar visuals and set pieces seen in A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place II

How does Halloween Horror Nights work within the normal park?

If you only purchase a General Admission ticket for any of the Universal Studios theme parks, you must exit at closing time on Halloween Horror Nights dates. If you purchase a separate HHN evening ticket or a Day/Night ticket, you can remain in the park from opening to close. Select rides in the general park will still be operational for HHN visitors with their ticket.

How scary is Halloween Horror Nights?

If you can watch any horror film and not flinch, congrats! You might be the only kind of visitor impervious to Halloween Horror Nights. But for everyone else, it's legit scary. Inside all of the haunted houses, real people will jump out at you, sneak up behind you and shadow you as you try to get from Point A to Point B. There will be scary sounds, special effects, wailing, screaming and general aural discomfort. And if you aren't a fan of blood, just know you will see a lot of (fake) blood everywhere.

You can purchase your Universal Studios Hollywood Halloween Horror Nights tickets now!
