How Blake Shelton Had Gwen Stefani "Bawling" at Their Wedding: "The Makeup Came Off"
Shelton did something so romantic that Stefani couldn't hold back her tears.
Gwen Stefani revealed in a recent interview on TODAY that she did her own makeup for her July 2021 wedding with Blake Shelton. However, the tears of happiness were so strong during the ceremony that her mascara didn't stand a chance.
"I do my vows, and I'm literally bawling," the GXVE Beauty founder said. "All the makeup came off."
Stefani also said that Shelton's vows made her cry even harder. "Then [Blake] goes, 'I know that you're always on me about not writing songs...' So all of a sudden, guitar out of nowhere, he plays me this song he writes me. I'm bawling."
Stefani revealed that the song that Shelton wrote for her was the most romantic gift she's ever received in a 2022 interview with Access Hollywood. "That was pretty up there. Try to top that, guys!" she said.

In a 2021 interview with People, Shelton revealed that the song he wrote for her was called "We Can Reach the Stars," which was featured in the deluxe version of his album Body Language.
"Gwen and I decided we were going to write our own vows for the wedding, but I decided to surprise her by writing a song instead," he told the outlet "I reached out to my buddy Craig Wiseman, who is a world-class songwriter, to help me write and structure something that would stand the test of time."
"I'm really proud of 'We Can Reach the Stars' and I'm really honored to be with her," he also said. "That's why we got married in the first place. That's why we wear rings… because we want everyone to know. I'm thrilled to share this song with the world."

Many may not know that before Stefani's No Doubt fame, she was actually a mall makeup assistant. She now has her own makeup line, GXVE Beauty, and recently hosted a fun friendsgiving event celebrating the brand.

At the event, she spoke about why she has a personal connection to makeup. "I think there's a lot of people out there who still wanna be creative and be beautiful and make a difference, and makeup makes you feel that way. You have a dream, and you really wanna be able to get there, but it is really about the journey. This is going to be a part of that journey today. Just being together, being grateful," she said.
