Zabryna Guevara is a leading lady of the law, with a resume that boasts everything from a fierce defense attorney (Law & Order) to the tough-talking police commissioner of Gotham. Few actresses on TV embody the complex intensity of a woman in charge quite like Guevara, and The Hunting Party is the latest thrilling example.
In NBC’s high-concept crime procedural, Guevara plays Attorney General Elizabeth Mallory, and she has a serious problem on her hands. The nation’s most dangerous serial killers — including those believed to have been executed — have just escaped from a top-secret prison that shouldn’t exist. Guevara and the CIA’s Jacob Hassani (Patrick Sabongui) assign an elite team of investigators to track down these killers before they strike again.

Now that Guevara is back in action, let’s take a look at her illustrious career of nabbing criminals — and sometimes being one.
The Hunting Party's Zabryna Guevara got her start in TV on Law & Order
After establishing herself in regional theater productions across the U.S., Guevara made her screen debut in a guest role on Law & Order in 1997. Her career took off over the next two decades, but she never left the franchise’s fold, popping up several times through the years.
The Hunting Party is not her first brush with serial killers. Playing defense attorney Amanda Stanley on Law & Order, she encountered a psychotic killer in 2024’s “Turn the Page” and tackled tricky cases in other episodes, from racial profiling to murders of tech CEOs.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit allowed Guevara to flip the script and play a villain twice in 2021 ("Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing" and "The Empire Strikes Back"). Her diabolical character, Dr. Catalina Machado, led a sex trafficking ring.
Zabryna Guevara wishes she had one superpower
The native New Yorker swooped into the Batman Universe in 2014 to portray police captain Sarah Essen in the hit series Gotham, where she dealt with the likes of the Penguin, Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith), and mob boss Carmine Falcone. When a fan asked which villain or hero she would like to play, her unexpected answer was, “Wonder Woman. With the invisible jet.”
She continued in a Reddit AMA, “If I had one superpower it would be two-fold (because you can't just have ONE superpower). It would be to develop ridiculous martial arts skills, and at the same time, be able to heal people with those same martial arts powers! I can fight like a demon, but I can also heal with my hands.”
Those skills would have come in handy in her next project, the medical thriller Emergence. She played a Venezuelan pediatrician alongside Alison Tolman (St. Denis Medical), a sheriff who finds a mysterious girl near the site of a plane crash. She told Hola!, the show holds a special place in her heart because she infused her character with her Venezuelan heritage.
“I just love that we get to have a bit of my culture,” she said.
No genre is off-limits for the actress. She held her own in the star-studded horror series Dr. Death (2021 – 2023), featuring Christian Slater and Alec Baldwin, which was based on a true crime podcast about a murderous neurosurgeon. On the big screen, notable credits include The Rebound and X-Men: Days of Future Past.
New episodes of The Hunting Party premiere on Mondays at 10/9c and next day on Peacock.
