Dolly Parton Has a Secret Song in a Time Capsule That She's Dying to Release
"It's a really good song," she said.
If you think you’ve heard every Dolly Parton song, think again. On The Kelly Clarkson Show on December 19, Dolly Parton herself revealed she has a secret song stored in a time capsule that no one will hear until the singer is 99 years old!
Parton explained that she buried the mysterious song along with a cassette player and CD player to celebrate the opening of her theme park Dollywood, although she doesn’t remember whose idea it was to create the time capsule. “I put that in the box, but I had to write this song that nobody was gonna hear ‘til then. And I tell you, you have no idea how much that has bothered me. I wanna go dig that up so bad and think, 'Well I need to use that song, cause like, you know, and it’s a really good song,'” she told Clarkson, who erupted in laughter. “Hopefully it’ll be special."
“It was an odd feeling to be asked to write a song that was not going to be heard,” Parton elaborated to Clarkson.
In case you can’t get enough of the country legend, you can stream Parton’s Christmas movie-musical special Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas on NBC and Peacock.
Better yet, the “Jolene” singer will bring her charm to NBC yet again as the co-Host of Miley’s New Year's Eve Party with Miley Cyrus. It airs Saturday, December 31 from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. ET/PT and can be viewed on NBC and Peacock.
