Blake Shelton Brought Back His Iconic Mullet for a Very Exciting Reason
The mullet has made its return.
The Voice Coach Blake Shelton has gone through more than a few style evolutions since he released his self-titled debut album in 2001. At one point, the country music star even rocked a notoriously tough-to-pull-off hairstyle: The humble mullet.
On August 15, 2022, Shelton posted the cover art for his new single, titled "No Body," on Instagram, and fans were shaken when they realized Shelton is rocking his mullet once more. Although Shelton's head is partially obstructed by a cowboy hat, he did us a favor and cut right to the chase in the caption.
"Had to bring back the mullet just for y'all.. New song out this Friday. Pre-save link in bio. #NoBody," he wrote.
Long-time fans of Shelton likely remember the singer's signature hair from the early days of his career, and according to the eight-time Grammy award nominee, "No Body" is an homage to '90s country music and culture.
"I get excited and feel like a kid every time we release new music," Shelton told Taste of Country. "But this song in particular takes me back to the '90s when I was in high school and first moved to Nashville, because it feels like what the music sounded like at that time."
According to ET Canada, Shelton is also set to release a music video for the track, which was shot in a Los Angeles country western-themed bar.
Catch Shelton on The Voice Season 22, which premieres Monday, September 19 at 8/7c on NBC.
