Why Adam Levine Ran Into Jennifer Hudson (Shirtless) in a Tokyo Hotel: "I Screamed!"
The Voice Coaches had an incredibly unique first meeting.
The story of how Adam Levine first met Jennifer Hudson is almost too crazy for words.
Luckily, during his recent February 25 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the current Voice Coach explained how it all happened — and it all went down quite recently. Levine just returned from Japan after touring overseas with Maroon 5, with his adorable family by his side, and the chance encounter between the two Voice icons took place inside a Tokyo hotel.
Levine said he was startled by the hotel's fire alarm going off in the middle of the night, causing him to panic because he thought the hotel was burning down. That's when the rocker sprung into action:
"Now I'm going into like, full Bruce Willis, Die Hard, gotta-save-everybody-now, right?" he explained to Hudson. "I'm running down the hallways, I'm knocking on the doors, I'm like, 'Everybody get out!'"
And in true Levine fashion, he mentioned what he was wearing when the mayhem started — and more specifically, what he was not wearing.
"I grabbed my wallet and my hotel key, and I literally was like, no shirt, sweatpants, out there now in it," he continued. "I find that I can't take the elevator — who knows what's happening down there? So I'm walking down the stairs, and I'm just like, 'Is that Jennifer Hudson?'"

That's right; the two music legends met during an intense moment in a Tokyo stairwell. What are the odds that they were staying in the same hotel? A million to one?
"I'm like, 'Jennifer?' and she's like, 'Adam?' And I'm like, 'It's nice to meet you!'"
"Yeah, I screamed!" Hudson remembered.
"And we just like… I gave her a hug, and well, I'm thinking the building is burning down. 'Well, it's really nice to meet you.' And I keep running Bruce Willis-style. That was it."

The singer who has a penchant for throwing her shoes in admiration hilariously told her audience that she wasn't screaming about the supposed emergency situation happening around her — she was just psyched to be meeting the hunky Maroon 5 frontman.
"I was fanning out, y'all," she said. "Forget there's a whole fire, I was like, 'Oh my God, that's Adam Levine!'"
As it turns out, the fire alarm was just a drill, and the two were never in danger. Still, it's a hilarious way for Levine and Hudson to meet.
